Australia’s best screenwriters are in LA as part of the US launch of Showcase on Monday 24 June 2019 at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood; bringing the best of Australian screenwriting to the US film and television industry.

Showcase is a unique all-Australian online platform of peer-reviewed, high-potential project ideas from a mix of Australia’s most successful screenwriters and emerging talent. Showcase launched in Australia in 2017 and since then over a dozen projects have been optioned and more than 30 projects and writers have received Scripted Ink funding for script development including Vestal Virgins by Ellie Beaumont (‘House Husbands’) and Three Crooked Kings by Justin Monjo (Storm Boy).

Showcase offers international producers and screen investors the chance to browse through over 150 curated project ideas and then connect with their creators..

These creators include some of Australia’s most commercially successful writers and promising new screenwriters such as Catherine McMullen whose feature script The Other Lamb was on the Black List, Hit List and Blood List as one of Hollywood’s best unproduced scripts in addition to high profile and critically acclaimed talent such as BAFTA-winner Craig Pearce (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby), Academy Award-nominated Jan Sardi (Shine, The Notebook), AACTA Award-winner Louise Fox (Glitch), Annie Award-nominated John Collee (Happy Feet, Hotel Mumbai), AACTA Award-winner Shelley Birse (The Code), BAFTA-Nominated Andrew Knight (Hacksaw Ridge, The Water Diviner), AACTA Award-winner Jacquelin Perske (The Cry) and AACTA Award-winner Robert Connolly (Balibo). Connolly is currently working on The Dry with Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories.

The launch of Showcase and the establishment of the Scripted Ink Los Angeles office mark the beginning of a new era; creating unprecedented worldwide access to a wealth of Australian screenwriters and their new ideas.

Scripted Ink is an innovative, not for profit, screen development company, spearheaded by Australian screenwriter, creator and showrunner Shane Brennan,that aims to shape, build and invest in the international screen industry by creating new ways for script development. Selecting  scripts exclusively from the Showcase platform, Scripted Ink aims to incubate and accelerate quality Australian writers and their screenplays through direct development funding; exposing them to production companies, broadcasters and investors and assisting in brokering commercially and creatively successful partnerships.



Brennan, who has achieved extraordinary success running US shows including NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, CSI and One Tree Hill launched Scripted Ink in 2016 with the aim of bringing commercially exciting scripts and great Australian screenwriters to a global industry hungry for both.

‘Because of the way that audiences get their entertainment these days there’s been an absolute explosion in the demand for content,’ Brennan said. ‘Australian screenwriters are a rich source of writing talent and ideas. Showcase and Scripted Ink are working together to bring that Australian talent to the US, and indeed the world.’
