Scripted Ink. announces development investment in C.S. McMullen’s sci-fi thriller series Awake

Scripted Ink. is delighted to announce development investment in Catherine S. McMullen’s science-fiction thriller series, Awake. Catherine was shortlisted for the 2015 Monte Miller Award and won the 2016 Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award in New York. She has multiple projects on the Australian Writers’ Guild’s Pathways Program.

Awake tells the story of a dystopian near-future society where the richest 1% can choose to live without sleep. In association with RMIT in Melbourne, Scripted Ink. has funded a writers’ room for Catherine to brainstorm her project. ‘I honestly think that the experience of developing Awake with Stu Page, Gemma Crofts and Joe Brukner will stay with me for the rest of my life as being one of the defining creative moments in my screenwriting career’, said Catherine. Tim Pye, Scripted Ink. Head of Development, has been a strong supporter of Catherine and her work. ‘At Scripted Ink. we’re really excited by what Catherine can do with this project. She’s is a genuine rising star of the Australian screenwriting community,’ he said.
